The Challenge
This Gilbert family had lived with their dark kitchen long enough. Cherry raised-panel cabinets with ornate details, busy granite countertops, and a travertine tile backsplash had served them well over the years — but the overall feel was heavy and dated. The kitchen felt closed-in despite decent square footage, and it no longer matched how the family wanted to live and entertain.
Their ask: bright, fresh, timeless. Open and airy without losing warmth. Something that works for busy weeknight dinners and weekend gatherings with extended family. And flooring that could handle real Arizona family life — kids, dogs, the whole thing.
Our Solution
We centered the design on Sollid Cabinetry’s Shaker White — clean profile, zero ornamentation, timeless by definition. Replacing the ornate raised-panel cherry with these cabinets alone transformed the feel of the space before anything else was touched.
The custom white wood range hood is the design focal point — a handcrafted architectural element that gives the kitchen a high-end, intentional look and adds visual height without weight. White subway tile extends from the countertop all the way to the ceiling on the hood wall, maximizing the bright, clean aesthetic and making the space feel significantly taller.
White quartz countertops from Arizona Tile’s Della Terra line replaced the busy granite with a seamless, sophisticated surface that’s easy to maintain and never goes out of style. The new cooktop with built-in double wall ovens reorganized the cooking zone to work better for a family that actually cooks, and the island with deep drawer storage solved the storage crunch that had been an ongoing frustration.
For the floors, we installed Floor & Decor Ashford wood-look porcelain tile throughout the entire first floor — the warmth and character of hardwood with the durability and easy maintenance that Arizona families actually need.
The Results
In 4 weeks, this Gilbert home went from dark and dated to bright and timeless. The white-on-white palette creates a calm, open backdrop for daily life. The custom wood range hood and wood-look tile floors add warmth so the space never feels cold or sterile — exactly what the family asked for.
The new kitchen works harder than the old one: better cooking configuration, more storage, and flooring that flows seamlessly through the entire downstairs. It’s the kitchen this family will use and love for the next twenty years.
