The Challenge
A pipe burst in the ceiling of this Chandler home brought water down through the entire first floor. By the time the water mitigation company had finished the demo and cleanup, the family was looking at drywall-primed walls, exposed subfloor, and no kitchen at all. The silver lining: a true blank slate to build the kitchen they’d always wanted — more storage, more counter space, and a layout that worked for how the family actually cooks and entertains.
Our Solution
We came in on the restoration side — the rebuild phase after a specialized remediation company had handled the water extraction and tear-out, and after the electrical rough-in was already complete. That let us move straight into finishes and build on a 4-week timeline. From there, this was a design-driven custom kitchen rebuild rather than a like-for-like replacement of what was lost. We produced full design renderings so the family could see every surface and layout decision before we built it.
Sollid Cabinetry’s Three Series in Shaker White gave us the clean door profile the family wanted with the box construction that holds up in Arizona kitchens year after year. We spec’d drawer banks instead of door-and-shelf cabinets wherever the layout allowed, which more than doubled accessible storage without changing the footprint of the room.
Della Terra Calacatta Divine quartz on the countertops AND running up the walls as a full-height slab backsplash. Full-slab backsplash is more labor than a standard tile band, but it reads custom from across the room — no grout lines, no transitions, just a continuous veined white surface that catches light differently through the day.
The peninsula is the piece that changed how the kitchen functions. A Calacatta Divine quartz top with seating for three on the far side opened the kitchen to the dining and living areas, gave the family a prep surface that doesn’t crowd the main run of counter, and tied the new kitchen into the open-plan the rest of the floor plan had been asking for all along.
Matte black hardware across every drawer and door — a crisp contrast against the Sollid Shaker White that keeps the look modern without going trendy.
7-foot LVP planks installed through the whole house, since the mitigation team had already pulled flooring from every room. Long-plank LVP reads more premium than standard shorter planks, and running the same floor from the kitchen through the dining and living areas (rather than transitioning at every doorway) makes the whole first floor feel bigger.
Modern lighting pulls the room together: an LED ring fan centered over the main floor, a linear pendant floating above the peninsula bar, and warm recessed lighting throughout.
The Results
In 4 weeks, this Chandler family went from standing in a demoed-out shell to the kitchen they’d always wanted. The pipe burst was the worst day of their year — the finished kitchen is the design they would have paid for voluntarily if they’d been renovating from scratch.
Storage doubled through drawer banks. Counter space jumped meaningfully with the peninsula addition. The flow from kitchen to dining to living reads as one space now instead of three rooms separated by walls and transitions. And the full-height Della Terra Calacatta Divine quartz is the kind of material choice that keeps looking right in year ten, not just year one.
