The Challenge
This Scottsdale master bathroom hadn’t been remodeled in a long time and it showed. The original shower was a builder-grade stall with frosted glass doors, dated beige acrylic walls, and a step-over threshold that read as 90s the moment you walked in. The vanity had been DIY-painted navy blue at some point — a personality choice that didn’t survive the years — and the cultured marble countertop was cracked and yellowing.
The homeowner wanted something clean, classic, and timeless that didn’t lean overly traditional or overly modern. The brief: white subway tile, real stone-look surfaces, and a few moments of pattern to keep it from feeling sterile.
Our Solution
We gutted the existing shower and built a custom walk-in in its place — white subway tile from floor to near-ceiling, two recessed niches with patterned cement-look accent tile inside them as a graphic moment against the field tile, a black hexagon mosaic on the shower floor for contrast, and a frameless sliding glass door on a black rail. Matte black fixtures throughout pull the design language together.
For the vanity, we installed Sollid Cabinetry’s 3 Series in Shaker White — a clean, durable double vanity that hits the price point this client wanted without compromising on door style or build quality. Topped with a marbled quartz counter, undermount sinks, and matte black faucets. New black-framed rectangular mirrors and a pair of ornate dual-bulb sconces above complete the wall.
The floor is where the room earns its character: large-format patterned cement-look porcelain tile in the same black-and-white palette as the shower niches, repeating the visual language across the room and giving the bathroom a real design moment underfoot.
The Results
In 2 weeks, this Scottsdale master bath went from a dated 90s holdover to a magazine-page bathroom — classic subway, real pattern in the floor and niches, and finishes that read intentional from corner to corner.
